How to choose an air fryer for your family
Match basket capacity, counter space, and controls to the way you actually cook.

An air fryer should fit your meals, not just your wish list. Start with the number of people you cook for, then check the basket, available counter space, and everyday cleaning before comparing extra modes.
Start with usable capacity
The litre figure on the box does not tell you how much food sits in a single, evenly spaced layer. Basket width and shape matter when you cook snacks, vegetables, or several portions at once.
For one or two people, a compact basket may be easier to store and clean. Families cooking full meals may prefer a wider basket or two cooking zones, provided the appliance and its ventilation clearance fit the kitchen.
- Check the basket's internal dimensions, not only its advertised volume.
- Think about foods you cook together and whether they need separate temperatures.
- Leave enough room around the appliance for safe airflow and removing the basket.
Choose controls you will use
Manual dials are direct and familiar. Digital controls can offer finer settings and presets, but a preset is only useful when its time and temperature suit the food and portion. A clear display, responsive controls, and an easy-to-read manual are more valuable than a long mode list.
Look for a timer, a useful temperature range, and a way to pause or check food. Recipe timings still need adjustment for portion size, starting temperature, and basket loading.
Make cleaning part of the decision
Check whether the basket and crisper plate can be removed without awkward edges. Read the care instructions rather than assuming every part is dishwasher-safe. A non-stick coating still needs non-abrasive tools and gentle cleaning.
Before buying, compare the warranty terms and the availability of customer support in your city. Keep the invoice and confirm what the warranty excludes.
Always follow the product manual and the manufacturer’s current installation, compatibility, and safety instructions.
